Policosanol

Heart health

is essential. Without a working heart, there’s nothing.  We’re gonna need a good kicker, if we don’t have a good ticker. Or even if one may want to be preventative and proactive rather than regrettably reactive, a little policosanol can help big time.

What is it?

Policosanol is a mixture of nine, primary aliphatic alcohols and is derived from sugar cane wax. Mainly having octacosanol, a powerful antioxidant that helps with cardiovascular health, all other 8 aliphatic alcohols play a key role in promoting cardio health as well.

What does it do?

It is believed to have cholesterol-lowering effects. It’s also thought to reduce blood clots, improve blood vessel health, speed up healing time in open wounds, as well as reducing blood sugar levels.

Clinical studies show policosanol works as good as FDA-approved drugs in lowering cholesterol but is free of side-effects.  After 24 weeks, policosanol at 20 and 40 mg/day lowered LDL-cholesterol (the bad kind of cholesterol) by 27.4% and 28.1%, while total cholesterol was reduced by 15.6% and 17.3%.

What separates MyNutra’s Policosanol from any other?

  • The main ingredient is octacosanol, a derivative of a wax from sugar cane plants.
  • Contains eight other aliphatic alcohols useful in supporting healthy cholesterol
  • Once daily 20 mg vegetarian capsule
  • In another study, 10-20 mg of policosanol showed 21-29% lower LDL (bad cholesterol) and 8-15% higher HDL (good cholesterol)
  • Made from 100% pure sugar cane
  • Standardized to 50% octacosanol
  • Ingredients in policosanol comparable to those used in Cuban studies showing reduction in LDL and increase in HDL cholesterol
  • CONTAINS NO artificial colors, flavors or preservatives; no wheat, gluten, milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, crustacean shellfish or fish. Suitable for vegans

Policosanol seems to me like a well rounded verse in the chorus of cardiovascular health, one that we could all sing along with.

Have you had any experience with policosanol, or maybe are you taking something else to help your cardiovascular strategies? Let us know in the comments!
